This season will mark my fifth year with the Girard Girls Soccer Team, serving as the Assistant Varsity Coach. I first started as a Volunteer Assistant Coach with both the girls’ and boys’ teams during the 2007 season, and I have been the Assistant Varsity Coach and Head JV Coach since the 2008 season.
I recently graduated cum laude from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Social Studies Education. For the 2011-2012 school year, I will be serving as a substitute teacher in the Girard, Fairview, Northwestern, and Millcreek Township School Districts, in hopes of finding a full-time teaching position in the near future. I am also an alumnus of Girard High School, graduating in 2006, and having been a member of the Girard Boys Soccer Team during my time at GHS.
I can admit that I am disappointed that we will not be fielding a junior varsity team this season, but it will allow the coaching staff to put all of their efforts into developing a very young, yet talented team during the 2011 season. While it will take time to adjust to not coaching the JV team this season, I firmly believe that what we do this year in developing the younger players will pay huge dividends in the years to come.
Like I’ve done in the past four seasons, I hope to make many more memorable moments as we progress throughout the 2011 season. I will expect nothing but being the best from my team – both on and off the field – and I am certainly looking forward to having a great season.
